Dale & Stevie’s Winter Ravenswood Hotel Wedding Day

Dale & Stevie’s Winter Ravenswood Hotel Wedding Day

Where did you get married?

Dale and I got married at The Ravenswood Hotel in West Sussex. We looked at few venues before deciding this was the one for us. When first seeing the building we fell in love. It has so much charm and so many fairy lights, I knew would fit in with the wedding we wanted.

I had visions of fairy lights everywhere and this literally ticked every box. Ice blue, white and silver were the main colours. The wedding was in November I knew the icy colours would sparkle against the fairy lights.

Which flowers did you choose?

We knew we wanted roses, and they had to be white. Zara flora in East Grinstead were recommended by the venue and Zara helped with our vision. White roses with gypsophila just very simple as we felt the venue and styling spoke for itself.

Which style was the brides dress?

The dress I chose was the last out of about 25 I tried on. Valerie from With Love Bridal Boutique in Sidcup helped me every step of the way. I went in with a vision of sleeves and quite high necked but ended up with the complete opposite, sweetheart neckline with a tight fish tail. The dress was champagne coloured and so unusual from anything I had ever seen…I just knew it was THE one! It made me feel super special and I felt like I lit up and couldn’t stop smiling when I had it on.

How did you have your hair/make up?

Hair and make up I knew I wanted something elegant, my hair was beautifully styled by Lesley Woollard by Ugly Betty’s Belvedere who has been my hairdresser since I can remember and I knew no one else would do. I went with Hollywood 40s glam with a beautiful handmade hair piece from the U.S (that cost me a small fortune to get here) Elizabeth Jospeh-Love was my make up artist and she was the best. I knew I wanted something glamorous but quite subtle as I didn’t want to not look myself, we went for pinks and nudes on the eye with a bold coral lip.

Which colour did the groomsmen/ bridesmaids wear?

All the groomsmen wore a navy 3 piece suit from Moss Bros, Dale knew he wanted a different waistcoat to that of the other boys so he chose grey checked. Each groomsmen was able to customise the inner lining of their suits, making each suit unique.

My two bridesmaids wore ice blue dresses from ASOS. They had sequins and a beautiful bow on the back that gave the dresses that something extra special as that’s how I wanted them to feel!

How did you feel that the day went as a whole?

What can we say about the day…. can we do it again! There is nothing about it we would change, it was perfect from getting ready (in the gorgeous getting ready room) with our mums and bridesmaids listening to all our favourite songs, to the simply scrumptious food, and judging by the empty plates everyone enjoyed.

We had a glitter artist Happy Henna face painting and body art in the evening which everyone loved! It was great seeing everyone getting involved… even the guys ended up with glitter beards.

Being in November we were a little worried about the weather but thankfully it held out long enough that we were able to capture some simply stunning photos out in the gardens. We both wanted a relaxed day, people to enjoy every minute of it, let loose and just have fun. Overall I think we achieved this and this is supported by the glowing comments we received from friends and family.

Last but not least James thank you so much for everything you did on the day. Not just taking the most most beautiful wedding photos I’ve always dreamed of. Helping every step of the way, like tying the groomsmen’s ties to fixing the button holes. Nothing was too much trouble for you! our guests all commented on how you felt like a friend so relaxed and a funny guy.

We booked a videographer pretty last minute, we chose I-Do productions based in Brighton, James and Lloyd worked so well together and from both we have equally beautiful work.
