Martyn & Madelines Braxted Park Wedding
Hey Folks, Today on the blog is Martyn & Madelines Braxted Park wedding. They tied the knot back in June, in a thunderous garden ceremony. Even though the weather did turn at one point this couple didn’t let it dampen their spirit. Thank you again guys for such a great day!!
Where did you get married, and what made you choose your venue?
We were both keen to marry in the UK and had our heart set on taking our vows in the grounds of a beautiful venue. It was also appealing to us to have the ceremony and reception in the same place. We came across by chance Braxted Park, in Witham, Essex and fell in love with it instantly. The moment you turn into the grand driveway it takes your breath away! The estates grounds are stunning and the walled garden where we wanted to have the ceremony was exactly what we had been looking for. However as we all know we cannot rely on the great British weather we both felt that the inside area (The Orangery a.k.a. Plan B) was most definitely not a compromise as this too was a gorgeous room. The theme for the day itself was quite a romantic feel with creams, whites and gold, keeping most things quite simple.
Which flowers did you choose?
We had the most amazing flowers which were a mix of Peony’s (my absolute favourite flower), roses, veronica, stocks and September daisy’s all in cream/white.
Which style was the brides dress? Describe your favourite aspects and why you chose it?
My dress was amazing…..it took me a while to find it but when I did I just knew. My dress designer was Madeline Gardner. Ivory in colour, fitted with a subtle fishtail and sweetheart neckline. The dress compiled of 3 layers of lace and medium length train, with some jewel and pearl detail around the bust and some fine gold thread detail over the whole dress. I had some thin straps made which were detailed with pearls and jewels and button detail down the back of the dress. My favourite aspect was the fit of the dress, it complimented my figure and with only being 5ft. tall it didn’t take over. I had so many compliments on the day with people thinking I had had the dress custom made! It really was my dream dress!
How did you have your hair/make up and why?
I was keen for both my hair and make-up to be quite natural and soft looking (with that romantic feel). I have quite long hair and usually wear it down so for my wedding day I decided to go for an up-do with a bit of volume on top and then soft bits falling around my face. Make-up I kept natural/nude with the expectation of my eyes which had a bit more drama. The make-up and hair team were fantastic during preparations making the whole morning run like clockwork which in reflection made me extremely relaxed.
Which colour did the Groomsmen/ Bridesmaids wear?
Our lovely Bridesmaids and Groomsmen did us so proud on the day, they all looked fantastic. The Bridesmaids were all in a mint green, a beautiful floor length gown with lace detail on the top which had cut out detail on the back and a chiffon skirt. The Groomsmen were all in a lovely royal blue 3 piece suit. The best man and ushers had a silver waistcoat whilst the groom was in an ivory coloured one. They all had mint green cravats and pocket squares to compliment the bridesmaids dresses.
How did you feel that the day went as a whole? Are there any special moments/memories that you’d like to share?
We both can honestly say our wedding day was probably to date the best day of our lives. We couldn’t have asked for anything more, and couldn’t stop smiling from start to finish. I know for me from the moment I woke up everything seemed to just go to plan, with arriving at the venue and getting ready. Having some champagne and spending time with my girls waiting for 2.30pm to come along. I know we have both said separately to each other that locking eyes for the first time as Martyn turned to see me walking down the aisle was a special moment for both of us and a memory we will both cherish. The day started off beautiful weather wise with bright sunshine but typically come the time of the ceremony the clouds came over and we had a bit of a storm. But it just added to the excitement of the day. One of the best moments for us was during the ceremony with the registrar announcing us as husband and wife when a big clap of thunder went off at the exact same time. It couldn’t have been timed better! Once the ceremony was done it was time to have fun. The sit down meal, evening buffet and reception canapes were all delicious the food as a whole was outstanding. The speeches for me were another highlight. My dad’s speech was brilliant he made me feel very proud and Martyns brought a tear to my eye. As did the best mans but tears of laughter…..he did a very good job! One last highlight for us both (as there are honestly 100’s to choose from) was the last dance of the evening, Queens Bohemian Rhapsody. All the guests forming a circle around both Martyn and I and signing at the top of their lungs, with Martyn lifting me up at that crucial point of the song when you have to do some head banging. I remember all the guests rushing in and cheering! It was brilliant.
