Sam & Kylie’s Super Relaxed Pine Calyx Wedding Day

Sam & Kylie’s Super Relaxed Pine Calyx Wedding Day

Today’s blog is featuring Sam and Kylie’s wedding day. Sam and Kylie tied the knot in a super relaxed ceremony at The Pine Calyx, St Margarets at Cliffe. It has to be hands down one of my favourite weddings last year, great crowd and an awesome couple to work with.Thank you for a great day ! It was a pleasure photographing your wedding.

Where did you get married & Why did you choose your venue?

Just at the bottom of the zig-zag path from the venue is a small bay where I got down on one knee and proposed to Kylie! That night we camped in our beloved campervan under the stars listening to the waves. It was really important for us to get married somewhere were we could come visit and spend our anniversaries together there. The venue itself is eco building full of character. It has a grass roof resembling a hobbit house, much to the amusement of friends and family as neither of us are all that tall! It’s surrounded by stunning gardens with cute garden paths full of crushed shells and wild foliage. It’s very open with a view of the sea which definitely sold it to us. We wanted our wedding to be very relaxed and chilled out where are guests could kick back and enjoy the food, drink, company and beautiful surroundings of the venue.

Which flowers did you choose?

In keeping with our colour scheme the flowers included coral, orange, wild, with plenty of greenery. Very loose and natural. Oh and daisies! Love daisies! My favourite colour is green and sam’s is orange (hence the bright orange wheels on our camper van), and the bridesmaids wore coral in keeping with the sea side ish theme.

Tell us about the dress!

Dress shopping was pretty scary for me. Not being one to dress up overly, I didn’t really know what I wanted. Friends and family half expected me to arrive in something very unusual and quirky. For this reason I wanted to surprise them all, but especially Sam with something very elegant and lady-like. When I put the dress on in the shop I cried. I looked and felt like a bride. That’s when I knew. The dress consisted of an ivory silk slip and a stunning lace over way flowing into a small train. I kept the dress a secret. Only my sister, the chief bridesmaid had seen it up until the day.

How did you have your hair & make up?

In keeping with the wedding theme (and as in general) my hair was very natural and loose, pinned to one side. In my hair I wore starfish hair slides to represent our love of the seaside and my slight obsession with wanting to be a mermaid 😀

Which colour did the Groomsmen & Bridesmaids wear?

The Groomsmen wore tweed waistcoats and flip flops. The Bridesmaids and flower girls wore coral with orange, coral and green foliage bouquets to match the brides.

How did you feel that the day went as a whole? Are there any special moments/memories that you’d like to share?

We couldn’t have been happier with how the day went! Everyone commented on how relaxed and in fitting with our personalities the day was: our wedding car, the venue, the homemade decorations, and the chilled BBQ wedding breakfast. We have so many happy memories from the day that we will both cherish always! It was so nice to see our friends and family come together to share this special day with us.
