Harry & Emily’s Bradbourne House Wedding
Hey Folks! Today on the blog is Harry & Emily’s Bradbourne House Wedding day!
Where did you get married and what drew you towards your venue? We got married at St Peter and St Paul’s Church, Aylesford. We recently moved into the parish and as well as wanting to get married in Church, we also fell in love with it situated in a beautiful village overlooking the river. We had our reception at Bradbourne House in East Malling. We first visited the venue with Emily’s parents and all of us fell in love with it. Although it is a perfect venue all year round, we felt really happy about having a winter, candle-lit wedding there. It didn’t matter what the weather would be as the venue had a perfect layout with beautiful, grand rooms.
Which flowers did you choose? The flowers were by Suzanne at The Flowersmiths who was highly recommended to us by two close friends. She completely understood our vision of soft and wintery with beautiful flowers and foliage that complimented our colours perfectly. We had various roses in creams and antique lilacs, eucalyptus and other frosted greens, silvery greys and a great splash of privet berries.
Which style was the brides dress? My dress was by Demetrios bought from Dress Dreams in Sevenoaks. Shereen in Dress Dreams is has the most beautiful selections of dresses. My friend picked out a real show-stopper dress and not some thing I had imagined wearing, but absolutely loved it on. I thought about it for a few days but there was no doubt that this was the one! The dress was ivory and had a beautiful jewelled bodice in silvers and pearls and the back see-through under the embellishments. It had a full tulle skirt with subtle sequins which sparkled in the light.
How did you have your hair/make up and why? My bridesmaids and I had our hair and make-up by Collette Preston-Reeves and Gemma Pass who I met at a wedding fair at Bradbourne House. I knew I wanted my hair in an up-do to show off the back of the dress but apart from that I wasn’t too sure what would look good. They were amazing though and made great suggestions. Colette styled my hair to perfection with volume and curls around the sparkling hairpieces, and at the end of the night it looked exactly as it had done in the morning! My make-up by Gemma was also amazing and lasted all day and night. She really made me feel confident at the trial with wearing eye make-up and used beautiful natural colours. They were also fabulous on the day calming my nerves and helping me enjoy getting ready!
Which colour did the groomsmen/ bridesmaids wear? Harry had always wanted traditional top hat and tails for himself and the groomsmen so he really enjoyed shopping for his outfits! He chose mid-grey suits from Cameron Ross with navy blue cravats for the groomsmen and a lilac cravat for himself. The bridesmaids wore long ruched navy blue dresses with ivory fur wraps.
How did you feel that the day went as a whole? We were blessed with so many things during the day! It was a very special moment for me to wear my mum’s veil (still in perfect condition!) down the aisle. Someone we work with made arrangements for our wedding car and we had a beautiful Armstrong Siddeley. The weather was beautiful all day and we were able to have our official photos outside. The whole day was special because of all our friends and family who came, we felt so privileged looking out across the room during the speeches seeing everyone enjoying themselves and laughing!
Emily’s dad decorated hundreds of pine cones and constructed and glittered the silver table numbers. Emily and her bridesmaids had many diy/craft nights working on table plans, menus and pew ends. We also made personalised craft and treat bags for all the children which they collected under the venue’s Christmas tree.
