Rob & Nicole’s Broome Park Wedding

Rob & Nicole’s Broome Park Wedding

Where did you get married?

We got married at Chilham Church and the Broome Park in Barham, both just outside of Canterbury.

Why did you chose the venue?

We picked Broome Park first, and as soon as we drove down the long grand drive and saw the stunning georgian house we just knew it had the wow factor we were wanting. As we had a Summer wedding, the idea of being both inside and outside was appealing to us, and the addition of the large marquee and Italian Gardens to the left of the property meant we could really utilise the spaces on offer. Furthermore, having somewhere for our guests and ourselves to stay was also important. Being very traditional people, we naturally both felt that it was important to say our vows in a Church, and as I soon discovered, my Grandparents got married 70 years ago in Chilham Church so the chance to get married there was so special and we knew we had to do it.

Theme to the day? Colour schemes?

The theme was classic and elegant, with hints of blush pink, gold and ivory. The men wore dinner suits which really complimented the setting at Broome Park.

Which flowers did you chose?

I was quite flexible with my bouquet, and after carrying out lots of research on pinterest, I fell in love with ivory and blush, with a mix of roses and more wild looking flowers as well as some greenery. I also opted for ribbon to be tied around my bouquet, to give it that elegant feel.

The Dress!

My bridal dress was a simple, lace, fishtail dress, with a really long train, and an over-lay off the shoulder jacket. I loved the simplicity and fit of the dress with it’s sweetheart neckline, and the addition of the jacket in the day meant that I could create two different looks. Classic and elegant by day and then ready to party by losing the jacket after our first dance. Rob loved this little suprise, and most guests were also shocked as they hadn’t realised it was two separate pieces! I also teamed this with a long veil that had was two tired, and absolutely set off the whole look perfectly.

Groomsmen/bridesmaids outfits?

The groomsmen wore navy blue Dinner suits and patent black shoes with a blush pocket square. Rob wore an Ivory one to match my dress. The bridesmaid’s wore blush dresses with a slight fishtail, and a sash around the waist that tied in to a bow which sat just below the main backless feature of the dress. I loved this detail and the girls received lots of compliments.

How did the day go as a whole?

The day was perfect! We didn’t stop smiling from morning until midnight and were so sad when the day was over! We could not have wished for a better day with family and friends and felt it couldn’t have gone any better. It was more than we could have ever dreamt of and feel so lucky.

Special moments/memories?

There were many special moments, but a few that stand out were saying our vows in a church that meant so much to us, one of the uncle’s breaking a chair during the wedding breakfast, me putting my bouquet in the drinking water for the table rather than the vase provided, the Best Man desperately trying to pop the confetti balloon above us whilst we were having our first dance, and finally, the whole of the wedding party dancing to Love Train on the sparkly dancefloor! So much fun!
