Charlie & Emily’s The Orangery Maidstone Wedding
WHERE DID YOU GET MARRIED?
We visited a few different venues but The Orangery in Maidstone really stood out for us. We wanted somewhere local where we could have the ceremony and reception all in one place.
WHY DID YOU CHOSE THE VENUE?
From the first time we visited, the staff were so welcoming and could not have done more to ensure our day was perfect. We loved the idea of an outdoor ceremony and with its beautiful grounds and lake (and even a waterfall!), The Orangery catered for this and even felt like two different venues for daytime and nighttime but all rolled in to one.
THEME TO THE DAY? COLOUR SCHEMES?
We wanted to keep it quite traditional and had a vintage/country style with touches of lace.
The colour scheme was purples as aubergine is my favourite colour but as we went for a summer wedding, I thought this would be too dark for our bridesmaids so introduced different shades of purple like lavender to bring in some lighter colours.
Which flowers did you choose?
I had a posey bouquet of dolcetto and ivory roses with Gypsophelia, lavender and aubergine hydrangea.
Table arrangements were the same flowers with lots of gypsophelia in jam jars placed on log slices to go with the country style.
Which style was the brides dress?
My dress was called Ingwiller by Enzoani. I really wanted a classic dress and fell in love with this one when I tried it on! It was a long fitted style with a high neckline and my favourite part was the stunning lace keyhole back and cascading lace train.
How did you have your hair/make up?
I loved having my hair and make up done as it’s not something I’ve done before. I went for quite natural make up the same as my bridesmaids.
I had my hair up to show the back of my dress but with loose curls to frame my face. For the ceremony I had a floor length veil with a delicate diamanté hairpiece which went over my hair to add a bit of sparkle for the evening when I took my veil off.
Which colour did the groomsmen/ bridesmaids wear?
The men all wore grey Ted Baker tailcoat suits, with aubergine cravats and pocket squares.
Our bridesmaids were dressed in floor length lavender chiffon dresses by Jasmine Bridal which matched perfectly with the dolcetti roses and had lovely frill detail around the neckline.
How did you feel that the day went as a whole?
The day was perfect from start to finish! We had such an amazing time we wish we could do it all over again. We were so lucky to have such a beautiful sunny day and seeing all the details come together made all the planning worth it. The best part was getting to share our special day with all our friends and family who we hope had just as much fun as us!
Are there any special moments/memories that you’d like to share?
There are too many to mention but the small touches we had that were appreciated, like paper fans and ice cream to keep the guests cool. Having my uncle play live music with his band in the amazing sunshine and playing a hilarious Mr & Mrs game that our friend had put together before our first dance. And finally partying the night away with my new husband
