Jack & Jen’s Brighton Band Stand Beach Wedding

Jack & Jen’s Brighton Band Stand Beach Wedding

Where did you get married?

We got married in Brighton – we chose here because it was where we went on our first anniversary and also where we got engaged. Jack had always wanted a beach wedding and we both wanted something very relaxed and that wouldn’t cost the earth! We came across Brighton Music Hall the day after we got engaged and just loved how relaxed the venue was and how they had bands and singers outside. We just had to find somewhere to get married and we looked online and came across the bandstand and just loved it straight away, we loved how beautiful and unique it was.

Did you have any type of theme to your day?

We went with a beach theme so that it went with the relaxed feel we wanted. The bridesmaids chose their own dresses and they decided on grey which I loved.

Which flowers did you choose? The only flowers we had were for myself and the bridesmaids. I went to Blooming Greens flower farm in Boughton Mon Chelsea/Linton and I picked the flowers myself that I wanted for my bouquet, I wanted wild flowers and to choose them myself as it felt more personal and kept the cost down. Wild flowers fitted in perfectly with our wedding and I made the bouquet myself with the help of my mum. For the bridesmaids we had Gypsophilia and I ordered it online and again myself, my mum and my bridesmaids made these into bridesmaid bouquets.

Which style was the brides dress?

I knew I wanted an A-line style wedding dress, something floaty and relaxed with a boho style. I went to a lot of different shops and tried on over 30 dresses but when I tried this on I knew it was the one. I loved the lace on it and the detail in the back, I loved the long train and how floaty it was. I got my wedding dress from Jodi’s Bridal in Maidstone.

How did you have your hair/make up ?

My hair is naturally curly so I knew I needed something that would still look okay even once the wind or rain hit it. I went with a messy relaxed plait with gypsophilia in it. My makeup I had natural with a smoky eye so it was a bit different to my usual makeup. I knew as soon as we had booked our wedding that I couldn’t have anyone else do my hair and makeup. I had Paula Scordis at Glowstylist do my hair and makeup and all of the bridesmaids hair.

Which colour did the groomsmen/ bridesmaids wear?

The bridesmaids wore grey, they chose their own dresses, I felt this was very important as I wanted them to all feel comfortable and so they could choose the style of dress that complimented them best. We didn’t have suits for the groomsmen as again we wanted a relaxed feel to the wedding. We had chinos and shirts. The shirts were the same blue as the grooms jacket, they had tan chinos and boat shoes. The flower girls had simple skater style dresses that had a crochet look to them. The page boys had shorts, shirts and bow ties.

How did you feel that the day went as a whole?

We were super lucky with the weather as the day before it was horrendous and the rain poured down. We loved our ceremony, the Bandstand looked beautiful and was dressed perfectly so that it complimented the Bandstand. We loved how relaxed the ceremony was and how perfect it all went, it was far from formal and we wrote our own vows.

We had a seaside menu at our Venue that was really nice and we really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and we sat outside listening to the singers and bands. I was pleased with the decoration at the Venue – most of the decorations I had made myself with the help from my mum and mother in law.

The day before our wedding we had an accident with our wedding cake and the amazing Jayne Richardson came all the way to Brighton to make our cake perfect again. Are there any special moments/memories that you’d like to share?

Please feel free to add anything else that you’d like to share about your day.

We really liked how relaxed the day was and we were so pleased with our photographer and videographer – we have amazing photos and an amazing video that we will treasure and and that will remind us of our day. We also loved going on the carousel with our flower girls and page boys. But the highlight of our day was our Ceremony, that was the most important part of our day and the bandstand looked beautiful. We really liked how fun the day was and enjoyed seeing our guests relaxed and having fun. We really liked going for a walk to where the giant boat was and to the bandstand at night to have our photos done, these are 2 of our favourite photos.
