Zak & Kara’s Old Kent Barn Wedding

Zak & Kara’s Old Kent Barn Wedding

*Where Did You Get Married/Why Did You Choose Your Venue*
As soon as we walked on to The Old Kent Barn gardens and became surrounded with the old and new barn with the beautifully kept grounds we just gave each other a look and thought wow. We arrived and was soon found by the very courteous staff who opened the doors to the new barn where we both looked up in amazement at the great oak beams and hanging chandeliers. We was taken on a tour and loved every inch of the whole venue. we stood in the gazebo outside and both agreed this was where we was going to get married.
The theme had a feel of Country & Class my husband loves being outdoors and anything that can get muddy will be and myself enjoy a little bit of sparkle and style, we didn’t want to go too rustic but as a happy medium we found that this suited and sticked with all our planning.
 *Which Flowers Did You Choose*
We decided that flowers would have to be a show stopper at our wedding the venue has such a beautiful space that we didn’t want any arrangements to be missed from view and wanted to have a wow factor that people would always remember.
We had tall crystal pillars holding a textured domed arrangement of peach and pearl avalanche roses, white gypsophillia, peach double lisianthus, nude wax flower, peach and nude hypericum berries, white hydrangea, peach stock, asparagus fern, soft ruscus and eucalyptus on all tables while our guests dined they gave off such a beautiful fragrance and you couldn’t help but touch them.
All our flowers were real we even went to the touch of including a peach rose to the backs of the ruffle seat covers.
The family members all had a matching button holes or corsage for our grandparents
Our bridesmaids had all matching bouquets also a touch of gypsophillia in there hair.
Chic weddings were such a delight to work with Laurie was amazing when it came to our ideas she knew exactly what design we wanted to head towards and how to make it look just perfect with her expertise. To have it all written down on paper and then walk in on the day and see everything finished our vision was brought to life and my breath taken away we can’t thank them enough.
*Which Style Was Your Wedding Dress*
I found my perfect once in a life time dress in Together Forever Bridal Boutique which was the first and only shop I visited, Sara was absolutely amazing so kind, caring and such a friendly approach from the very first moment I walked into her shop until this very day, she offered great advice and she understood exactly what I wanted, I loved the skirt on one dress but the bodice on another, I added straps and to give it that extra bit of wow factor I decided to add more ruffles which had matching detail to the bodice.
My dress is a fishtail shape with heavy beaded clear crystal lace appliqué covering the structured bodice with delicate lace strap, low cut back, layers of soft ruffles with matching detail to the bodice and fastened with a corset back for that perfect fit.
*How Did You Have Your Hair/Make Up*
When it came to deciding how to have my hair for the wedding I was undecided for a long time but going on all my bridesmaids feedback and of my hairdresser Carly I decided to go with a neat bun up do with a diamond head piece wrapping around the bun, I was very happy straight away and knew it was the perfect style for me.
My bridesmaids had a side plait with soft curls with gypsophillia threaded through the plait.
When making a decision on how to have my make up for the day my amazing make up artist Natalie from auroras beauty was at hand with the best advice. As I dont wear a lot of make up day to day I wanted to keep it very natural light colours and bronzes for my eyes to keep in with the natural beauty of the surroundings and to keep in theme with the peach and nude gental colour scheme. Natalie was amazing she went above and beyond for me from the start of the week for all my bridal treatments to the very day working her magic on my bridesmaids and I.
*Which Colour Did The Groomsmen/Bridesmaids Wear*
The Groomsmen wore navy tails with ivory wastecoat and cravats, large peach rose, with gypsophillia with wax flower to run through for button holes. Cheeks of old Bexley were very welcoming dan was very friendly and always had great advice and was there for anything we needed. One reason for choosing these suits was that they came with matching pageboy suits for our two sons. Zak has always wanted to wear tails and in his profession he never gets to wear smart formal wear so in his words I’ve never get a chance to wear a suit like this again so I’m going to do it properly”
My bridesmaids wore a Peach Greek goddess styled open back dresses from oriental pearl. I’ve always from day one wanted peach nude light coloured theme and found these dresses way in advance, so when the time came to take my bridesmaids shopping I knew exactly what I wanted and the girls loved the colour and style. Looking back at my photos the girls looked the perfect picture and exactly how I imagined they would look on my day.
*How Did You Feel That The Day Went As A Whole*
We have been together since we was 15 years old and to come through so much in our lives together we really wanted to celebrate and have a perfect wedding day. Through all the dramas that life has thrown our way we still had each other and for us we wanted to have a perfect way for celebrating our lives together and promise ourselves to each other forever.
From the moment we woke, I was up early on my way to the venue to get ready with all my friends and family around me, Zak was getting ready at the hotel with his groomsmen and I had a surprise installed for my husband to be of his dream car from childhood to come to collect him take him for a spin before driving him onto our wedding day.
From the start the wedding preparations were handled with perfect timing and coordination from the brilliant Old Kent Barn team. A talking point that is still brought up whenever we hear from our guests who attended the day.
I was having hair and makeup while Zak was out enjoying the sunshine with the roar of his Ferrari to bring him to the barn (with a huge smile on his face). I opened my gifts to find a surprise honeymoon to Mexico booked for us to enjoy after.
From then on the day was handled with military precision and nothing was out of place. It was a strange feeling to go through the whole process of designing and planning on paperwork and then to walk in and see every tiny detail put into place perfect and ready for us.
The photos of our children are beautiful especially of them walking down the isle to greet their daddy I know zak had to hold back tears thank you James the children thought you was fab.
The weather held out and we had a warm sunny day with a gentle breeze and the celebration couldn’t of gone better. From then it was a short time for everyone to get ready for the wedding breakfast which was a favourite talking point for all the guests who loved every mouthful.
The party planning was making headway and we had booked a crèche for the children who attended the wedding which they absolutely loved. We even caught the best man having a sneaky play on the playstation!
We had an incredible band to see us into the night to sing our first dance song and then a fantastic front man who had everyone up on there feet dancing away.
We lived and loved every second as best as we could and to look back on all the photographs and videos just make it last forever. From every picture that James has taken we can relive that instant and it takes us back to the best day of our lives.
We can’t thank you enough James you captured everything we could of hoped for and more.
