Darren & Marie’s Trafalgar Tavern Greenwich Wedding Day
Marie & Darren got married in April with a London themed day. Marie is from London and Darren is a London bus mechanic, so the theme was brilliant for them as a couple. They chose the venue unexpectedly after trawling through all of the amazing venues in Kent. They wanted something a little bit ‘different’ and the Trafalgar delivered it! It was perfect for their theme, they love the Greenwich location, and they even got to get married in the ‘Nelson Room’ which is Marie’s maiden name!
Colours for the day were quite neutral to suit the room, but with a splash of London red to match their theme. They had Roses and Gerberas for the center pieces, in white for the guest tables and red for the top table. Romantic Roses played the main roll in Marie’s bridal bouquet whilst delicate tulips were chosen for the bridesmaids, keeping it classic and simple.
‘Our table names were Underground stops…which people loved and stole at the end of the night!’
The bridesmaid looked stunning in their designer maxi dresses. They each wore the same style of dress but with different shoes which they chose to suit their own taste and comfort. The groomsmen wore slim fit suits for a relaxed feel. They had champagne coloured ties which originally the bridesmaids were going to match, but Marie opted for a neutral tone for the dresses instead which complimented the boys perfectly. Darren’s buttonhole subtilely matched Marie’s bouquet with a single red rose, while the ushers and best man wore a white one.
Marie’s hair and make up was lovely and natural with her hair in a half up, half down style.
‘My hair is usually poker straight and thin and I hate it, so anything to add volume was a must! I didn’t want it overly styled and never wear my hair up so wanted to have it down so it was still “me”.’
Marie said their day was…
‘Perfect…it went without a hitch…except for a few tables catching on fire and the playlist not working properly…on which my 4th bridesmaid (you!) sorted, so thank you! We wouldn’t have changed a thing.’
Everything went just as they’d planned even down to keeping the usual evening buffet top secret!
‘Turns out it was quite a drunken affair which is just what we wanted! The fish and chips went down well…but the most talked about thing was the KFC cake, followed by actual KFC for the evening buffet (which we had managed to keep secret – this was very hard!).’
